CIAO!

I am Simona, I come from Puglia (Italy) and currently living in Lund, working as a postdoctoral researcher at the MAX IV synchrotron, where I study soft materials using X-ray scattering techniques. I first had a chance to try Aerial Silks back in 2016 in Italy and have been interested in Aerial arts ever since. I moved to Glasgow right after, where I took Pole Dance classes for a couple of years, but stopped for a while due to University. During my PhD in 2023, I finally decided to start aerial classes again at the Aerial Edge school in Glasgow. Here, I re-discovered my love for Aerial Silks and tried many other aerial disciplines, like static trapeze, flying trapeze and Aerial Rope (corde lisse). The latter became my absolute favourite and turned into one of my main apparatuses, as I love how dynamic and tangly you can get. I enjoy learning new things and figuring out pathways into weird moves!

Throughout all my time doing Aerial arts, I have always appreciated how welcoming Aerial sports are, and I would love to do my part in sharing that.

I firmly believe that all bodies, shapes and identities are always welcome in aerial arts! I hope I will help you find the same joy and appreciation for my own identity that aerial has been able to give me.
